IoT modules automate cathodic protection monitoring for Gasunie

Gasunie, the Dutch gas transmission system operator, has enhanced its pipeline monitoring capabilities by deploying 11,000 IoT modules across its infrastructure. This upgrade transitions from traditional manual inspections to a more efficient, real-time, remote monitoring system.

With wireless modems supplied by Batenburg Applied Technologies, the Dutch company Withthegrid designed the IoT solution which detects infrastructural issues such as external electrical interference and cathodic protection degradation. The data generated by these IoT devices enables early identification of potential vulnerabilities, facilitating proactive maintenance, optimizing resources, and driving long-term cost savings for Gasunie.
