A look at the applications of TactoSense, a solution from TouchNetix

A combination of touch and force-button technology for more intuitive HMIs

TactoSense, an innovative touch-based user interfaces, is an advanced touch technology by TouchNetix that combines touch and force input for smart surfaces. Its single-chip architectures allows OEMs and hardware engieers to easily integrate buttons, sliders, button bars or joystick‑like controls into a wide range of devices.

Batenburg Applied Technologies has extensive experience with TouchNetix technology, including through our long-standing collaboration with display partners such as EDT. As a design-in partner, we support engineers with technical HMI challenges and application-oriented system development, from consultation and concept validation to technical guidance. This gives engineering teams direct access to in-depth knowledge of modern touch solutions and practical insights for a successful system implementation.

TouchNetix’s patented force‑sensing technology

TactoSense is built entirely on TouchNetix’s patented force‑sensing technology. It enables developers to define per button whether it responds to touch, force, or a combination of both. The powerful controller drives all key functions, touch detection, force measurement, haptic triggering, and LED control, from a single chip.

Buttons can be integrated into various surface materials, including plastics, synthetic leather and even metal. This makes the technology suitable for a wide range of applications, from automotive and consumer products to industrial control panels and operator equipment. Developers retain full design freedom while users benefit from a significantly enhanced interaction experience.

Supporting up to 26 buttons simultaneously, as well as multi-touch, multi-force sensing, haptic feedback and proximity sensing, TactoSense enables unprecedented flexibility in HMI design. The result: a premium, mechanical-feeling interaction without the complexity or cost of conventional mechanical assemblies.
